Overall, however, what may turn out to be the case is Beartown 3 being dedicated to the younger generations of Beartown i.e. So I’m guessing maybe Leo or Alicia (the 5 year old) will have something coming for them. So far, Ana, Maya, and Benji have all faced tragedies that contributed to the overall plot. While Book 3 may have a different theme to it with happier tones, there is a possibility with a major character going through a traumatic moment that will affect Beartown as a whole. Book 1 had Maya sexually assaulted, and Book 2 had Benji being outed. The most important element of the Beartown series is a tragedy. And since Leo is still young, he’ll most likely be a main character in Book 3 with new obstacles to face.

Backman wrote in Book 2 that Leo’s character arc is “another story”. (which would be a great ending for his arc and for LGBT readers!)Īnother plot that would be explored is Leo Andersson’s involvement in the Pack and also finding his passion. If Benji remains to be a prominent character in Book 3, I believe Backman will allow Benji to finally accept his sexuality and feel free with who he loves. And at the end of Book 2, Benji is at the train station saying he is going “somewhere else”.

When the teacher and Benji part ways, the teacher says that they could have been something “somewhere else”. One particular plot point would be Benji’s relationship with “the teacher”.

“Those Who Run Towards Fire” is announced to be published in 2021, there are some theories I believe could be explored in this installment. Obviously this discussion will have spoilers for both books 1 and 2 in the Beartown saga. So i just finished Us Against You (Beartown #2) and I found it to be one of the best books i’ve ever read.
